Ah yes, got my first .45 XDm in today
Wife only let me play with it for a few minutes because it is one my Xmas presents. I was tossed up on getting the black or SS, I got the black. I really like the black. Now I'm thinking of buying another but 5.25. Got to get off my butt and order those free mags from Springfield. The XDm night sights I have read so much about (good and bad) work for me. I like them! My duty Glock 17 has the Glock night sights and I think the XDm stocker night sights are brighter (my Glock is two years old, I know half life). Sure I'd like to have a bit of white around the edges of the tritium tubes on the XDm instead of the shiny metal, but that is just me being used to the Glock. I know you should not focus on the dots, but for me the dot sort of gives me a reference point to help guide the front sight out of the haze in low level lighting situations where the tritium has yet to shine. Either way, I am happier to have sights that are not millimeter tall like my Glock.
Well obviously I have not shot the gun, which I really want to torture like a red headed step child. I did quite a few dry fires. Fits my hand like a handgun should. Not like my 3rd gen Glock where Glock says, "you put you fingers here! You don't! I hurt you fingers! Grab me like brick! You feel low bore axis? No! You not with program! Off to re education camp!". Just kidding, I love my Glock, but that's what my hand and brain says. The most amazing thing to me is the trigger. I have said many times I have shot cheap Crossman BB guns that have had a better trigger than a Glock. Stock Glock triggers suck period, bar none! Stock Glock triggers tend to make right handed shooters pull to the left of the target, generally left and low. Been a cop for 14 years, seen it hundreds of times. It's the break at the end of the trigger pull. Look, I can close a captains of crush #2 gripper ten times and I still got to watch exactly where my finger is on the trigger. Any bit off and I pull to the left. I dry fire a bunch before every year's qualification. Got to focus and keep the front sight from moving while pulling the trigger. I loved the Beretta In the Airforce, yes the first double action pull was horrid but man those singles were great! Anyhow, just with dry firing the XDm around the house for a few minutes I did not have to freaking concentrate even half as much as I do with the Glock. The trigger comes up to the break and the front sight stays straight. It's like the Glock feels like I am driving a school bus over a speed bump at 45 mph------Bink! That said a Glock with a basic trigger job is great.
The purpose of this firearm is my next to my couch gun and range whore. It's not for carry, I would carry it on duty if I could. Kick in my door and I fire flying ashtrays.
Yeah the XDm was Way pricier than the Glock, as an officer I can get a 4th Gen Glock with Trijicon night sights for about $565 give or take (and honestly the fourth Gen has not been welcomed with open arms with weak loads), the XDm ran me $729 (before tax), but add in I get a very nice Pelican type case, mag holder, mag loader, lock, holster, and finally *with current deal 3 extra magazines and an extra mag holder. That's still pricey for me, but I'm okay with it! I will buy another XDm sometime soon, next might be a 9mm or 5.25 .45. Yeah I still have a place in my heart for Glocks as well and might buy a fourth gen .45 a long time from now when they figure out how they screwed up from transitioning from the third gen to the fourth gen.

You'll love shooting the XDm .45. I've put about 400 through mine, and it just gets better all the time.

I think I have a psychosis that makes me want sets of things. Had to have a 4.5" XDm in all 3 calibers. Just picked up the .40 to go with .45 and 9mm. But of the 3, I like shooting the .45 best. Most comfortable for me, and most accurate of the 3 with me shooting.
Will be carrying a 3.8 compact 45, but wanted the set of 4.5's so I could shoot anything around.
