XDm in .380?
So I was going through some of the other threads and began to wonder, "What if Springfield made a pocket gun/mouse gun XDm in .380?"
So I'll ask you guys:
How many of you would consider buying one (assume that it has the same quality & reliability as current XD's/XDm's)?
Would you prefer it to look like the other .380's on the market (e.g. S&W Bodyguard 380, Ruger LCP, Kel-Tec P3AT, etc.), or more like a scaled down version of an XDm?
If you would buy one, how would you use it... would it be strictly a backup gun, or an occasional primary CC gun, or what?
What features would you like to see (e.g. integrated laser, backstraps, DAO or DA/SA, etc.)?
How many rounds should the magazine hold, and should they be single stack or double?
Do you think the current .380 pocket gun/mouse gun craze is going to continue for the foreseeable future or is it a passing "fad?"
Thanks for your honest answers.

I would get one if it were just like the XDm in a scaled down version single stack and all. Even the subcompact is kinda big. I'm forever looking for a smaller gun because I wear slacks and tucked in shirt for work. I'm finding the XDm compact to be difficult to conceal.

S&W Bodyguard, Ruger, and others have that corner of the market. SA should stick with improving their current line of pistols and consider a XDmc in the 45.

X2 but I would buy one if it was thin enough, single stack, and locked back on an empty chamber.

I have a Bersa Thunder .380 which is a hoot to shoot. It is also very accurate so I would stick with it.

Unimportable due to (iirc) GCA68.
This is the same reason that the Glock 25 and Glock 28 are for LE/M use only.

Correct you are. I looked it up and this is what I found regarding Gun Control Act of 68...
Import Restrictions
The 1968 Gun Control Act added a "sporting purpose" test which barred imports of military surplus rifles (a goal of many domestic gun makers) and a "points system" for imported handguns which barred from importation handguns based on penalizing features (short barrels, small caliber, short overall length or height, non-adjustable sights, etc.) believed to define the Saturday night special class of handgun.

I personally would not buy one. I do not trust the .380 to get the job done. I understand that many people think that having a .380 is better than nothing, and the pocket-mouse-gun is more concealable, but I would rather sacrifice a little comfort and carry the xdm compact in the .40. I think I have a much better chance at surviving an encounter with it.

I would get one. the main thing i would look for is that the slide locks back after the last round since most .380's dont.

I got the Ruger LCP and being a smaller frame size guy it conceals much better than does my XDm .40 compact. The .380 is 9.65mm. The hole will be bigger than a 9mm just with a little less power behind it. I don't think the bad guy standing 10' away would be able to tell the difference. Don't get me wrong, the 40 will knock the guy on his A$$ right now, the .380 will still get the job done.
