The traditional double mag method with front of mags facing front doesn't fit well in the XDm pouch and the method it "seems" to be designed for, mag fronts facing together, doesn't seem too friendly to shooting sports like IDPA, etc... You have to remember to turn one mag this way and the other that way...
Just wondering... There must have been a reason since everything else about the "M Factor" is well thought out...

most likely for looks...to look like the top of a X is my guess.
also i can face both my mags in the same forward position

I always assumed the angle is to give better grasp - if vertical must be spread further apart to get your fingers around one
I actually like the XD mag holder for matches, especially because it has rails to hold the mag loader. For strings needing more than two reloads I attach the mag loader to hold my starting mag. Could not move quickly with a mag loose in the upside down loader, but it is good enough for stepping into the box.
Heck, the XD mag holder even works for my Browning mags.
