Well sounds like you found a use for them. LOL!

???? I have used the 6909 for both for years now
I do suggest using one for the same caliber however, switching between them the nine will feel loose

The magazine tubes on the XDm 9 and 40 are identical.
Maybe my 6909 is a little tighter than yours. While they do fit, I find it too tight for IPSC matches.
The 6900 offers adequate retention but still comes out effortlessly for speed reloads.

now I could definitely go with that.
I use the fobus for Concealed Carry, the extra retention is needed
my thinking was I shoot other platforms other than the XD line as well.

I can put my 45 mags in the pouch facing one of two directions. One way, more force is needed.

Of course! "head slap" I thought it was because the 9* doesn't have enough stopping power.

And yes you mount them in the carrier (pouch) with the nose of the bullet facing forward in both pouches so when you grab them they rotate up into position to load into the grip of the gun. However, folks can and will do it however they want to.

I am with you on this, I use mine for IDPA every weekend.
