XDM sights off
I was at the range last week and shooting with my new XDM 40 3.8 for the second time. The target distance is fixed at this outdoor range at 37 feet. I was consistently shooting to the right about 8". Asked the range master to fire a few shots after he saw not grip issues and he did the same. He said I needed to adjust my rear sight, which I did and it got much better.
Then when cleaning the gun at home, I noticed that the front sight is not quite centered. There are two marks on the groove in the slide that I assume help line up the sight in the center. I tried to use the punch and brass hammer to move the front sight into the center position, but couldn't get it to budge even with 2-3 times the force I was using to move the rear sight. Any tips or do I need a special tool?

You definitely need a sight pusher. There are threads here you could look up with all types and prices, or find a gunsmith that has one. My advice would be just adjust the rear sight until POA/POI was on.

Or you can send the slide back to SA and have them adjust it.
The sites are put in with a hydraulic ram or some such and they are tight. Easy to bugger up the finish trying tap them around.

E-mailed them this afternoon and they sent me a number to call to take care of it but they are on Central Time so i'll have to call tomorrow.
Should I expect to pay shipping or should they cover it both ways?

Talked to them today and the lady said they just use a brass punch and a rubber mallet! However, she is sending me a FedEx shipping label to send it back to them for adjustment.

Yeah, right. That "lady" is full of beans! She may be thinking of other guns, the XD's need a special pusher. While the folks on phone support may not be too informed, the support is at least good. You should get it back pretty quick --> let us know the outcome.

That's what I told her and then said "Either way, it should have come from the factory properly aligned." Then she politely offered to send me the FedEx label. Of course I got her e-mail with the RMA number but no shipping label. E-mailed her back tonight. That's fine, we're shooting this weekend and then I'll mail it back on Monday.
