Do I need a trigger job on the XDm 45?

I've already got my XDm 45 found here in town and going to get it next week but I just had one question. I was looking at Springfield's website and saw where they touted it as having the shortest trigger travel of any production gun. For those of you that have them do you think an aftermarket trigger would be that much of a step up to justify the money?

I'm really getting anxious about buying it. I've only had my 40 sub compact to play around with the last few months.

Is it necessary to get a trigger job? No, the trigger is fine. Is it worth the money? YES, and I'm sure a lot of people on this forum will agree.

I personally found the stock trigger of the XDM9/40 series to be worse than the stock trigger of my XD45 was. I wonder if the XDM45 trigger is different than the other XDM models?

I have a Powder River Precision kit in my XD45 Service and it is well worth the money.

i would shoot it and see if you like it before spending money on a trigger job.
i love mine as is. then again i used to shoot a beretta all the time and had no problems at all...not single or double action, so the xdm .45 trigger is really smooth IMO.

if i'm not mistaken, they did make some changes to the xdm .45 trigger vs. the 9mm and .40 and they may implement those changes into the newer models of those guns.

I think I would put a few hundred rounds through it first, then decide if you want/need a trigger job.

I too found the XDm-40 stock trigger to be longer and mushier than the XD-40 trigger. Actually, a fair amount worse. I really have no idea what the poop SA was talking about when they touted the XDm trigger.

The PRP kit in in now and that's a lot better.

Instead of starting a new thread, who offers the best trigger kit?

I have heard SP and PRP were both good.

Anyone have a preference with one over the other or any clue which one is best?

General replies have reported are that all 3 are equally excellent. My take is that;

PRP is the least expensive, but has a bit more for you to do to git 'er done.

SP is a wee bit more $, but less fitting needed from what my non-expert eyes can tell.

Springfield Armory also can do a trigger job for you, is alot more $ when you add in the shipping, but will preserve all aspects of the warranty.

I used the PRP kit and am happy with it. It was a bit of mental work to determine how to do it, but having done that --> I now know a LOT more about the XD system. For me, that's a benefit. For others, it's a bother.

Any kit (or no kit at all) will benefit from polishing parts of the gun. The back of the sear and the front of the striker are 2 important ones. That really smoooooths out the action as it's the key friction area. Other parts of the trigger bar etc will help too, just not as much.

I have the Springer kit...love it. It shoots effortlessly and fast and I feel that it helps me shoot more accurately.
