It all depends on how much you shoot or dry fire your XDm. I would buy one just in case.

Newbie here and I did reads these helps - thanks.
I've also been reading the horror stories regarding changing XD sights; post #16 mentioned an XD sight pusher http://www.modelandtool.com/gpage1.html (now $90) but it looks very robust. Does it in fact remove the very tight sights?

I haven't been around in a while; was wondering if there will be a XDm45 3.8 FULL grip/not compact option any time soon?

Thank you, everyone, for compiling and contributing to this thread.
FYI - as a newbie - I have read every posting -- even the ridiculous ones that I know better than to ask.

Check local laws to be sure, but to my knowledge, and the sticker on my factory case, not with the high capacity mag.

Regarding:
Is it okay to dry fire an XDm?
I know this thread was started awhile ago and I don't know how recently SA revised their Owners Manual, probably in answer to all of the striker retaining pin failures that they have had to answer for.
On page 11 of the Operations and Safety Manual it now states:
"NOTE: Extensively dry firing can accelerate component wear/stress. Use snap caps when extensively dry firing."
I know, I know. "Extensively" is up for individual interpretation. I usually try to err on the side of caution and will continue to do so in this case.

Thanks for the great FAQ.
One thing I didn't see that I would find very helpful, and maybe I just missed it, Can we post a copy of the owners manuals online? I found a link, but since I'm a newbie I can't post it.
Thanks
James
