XDm and IPSC

I've shot Steel Challenge for a couple years and just shot my first IPSC match. Didn't do too bad with the XDm in the Production division.

I put a PRP trigger kit in it and my front sight has green paint on the dot. Are these illegal mods in IPSC Production?

Yeah I was reading a different version of that yesterday. It had mentioned that only sight black was allowed on the sights.

I believe it is legal. You may want to double check your frontsite. I read it a couple days ago and it asked about a specific trigger system, not a standard PRP kit (if I remember right). I had to read it a couple times before I understood the ruling. I will double check when I get home.
I could be wrong though?

Bummer...Does this mean that it's illegal for Steel Challenge Production as well?

Here's the FAQ I was reading:

6. My pistol has been fitted with an aftermarket trigger stop. Is this allowed?
Models which have factory installed trigger stops are allowed. Otherwise, this modification is not allowed.

-What's a trigger stop?

8. Can I apply paint or sight black to my pistol?
No, you can only apply sight black. See Point 19.3 of Appendix D4 in the January 2009 Edition of the IPSC Handgun rulebook.

Here is some of the rules from the Productions class revisions. According to this, the INTERNAL trigger components can be changed with aftermarket, but the external trigger can only be replaced OEM. You cannot disable any safties though. Also aftermarket sights are allowed. I do believe the only stipulation is they have to be notch and post.

21.6 Exchange of minor
INTERNAL components
(strikers, sears, springs,
connectors/disconnectors,
and other wholly-internal
parts)

INTERNAL parts: This clause is NOW
interpreted to mean that a broad range of
INTERNAL parts may be modified or
replaced – either with OEM or aftermarket
parts.

Special Notes/Clarifications:
Strikers, sears, springs, connectors/
disconnectors, and any other part which is
NOT visible when the gun is in battery is
considered an INTERNAL part and may be
modified or replaced unless otherwise
prohibited in these provisions (see section
22 for specific prohibitions).

22 Specifically prohibited
modifications and features
Please note that the absence of an item in
the list of prohibited modifications MAY
NOT be construed to mean a modification is
allowed. A modification is only allowed in
Production Division if there is a rules clause
or interpretation which specifically declares
that it is allowed in the Division.

Removing or disabling firing-pin blocks or
any other factory safety mechanism in
Production division is specifically
prohibited.

21.6 (cont) Exchange of minor
EXTERNAL components

Sights, firing pins, firing pin retainers,
extractors and ejectors MAY be replaced
with OEM or aftermarket parts.
Any other components which are externally
visible may ONLY be replaced with OEM
parts which are offered on the specific
model of gun or another approved gun from
the same manufacturer except as specifically
clarified below. Examples of external
components which may only be replaced
with OEM parts include (but are not limited
to): magazine releases, slide stops, thumb
safeties and triggers.
