You really aren't going to come up with a brilliant idea on your own to solve this, all you're going to do is end up damaging something.
i hear ya....a gunsmith it is..

Use a wooden stick. The type you would find in a craft store. This is what people use to get squibs out with out damaging there barrels.

Not squib.

Live round stuck in chamber.

Bad idea.

Yes, but usually with a squib you can get the barrel out to do this.

Ok here comes my two cents
if you can lock the slide open, stick I in a bench vice (with out scratching the gun) and then try the dowl I would hate to pay a smith $50+ for this but is there any other way the smith would do this?

GL and stay safe

Second thought:

The melting temperature of brass is 1710 F, while the melting temperature of the steel in your slide is around 2600 F. Meanwhile, the melting temperature of the lead in the bullet is a lowly 621 F.

So all you have to do is very carefully, with the barrel pointing down, heat your gun up to around 1710 F. The bullet and brass will melt and drop out the barrel, leaving your slide untouched.

It's perfect.

That would be the case, not the bullet.

Look, man, it's your gun. Do what you want. You've been given some pretty solid advice on how to deal with it, yet you seem to want to come up with a novel way of messing up your pistol.

Have at it.

and the ignition temp of the powder is...?

So the slide is stuck closed b/c the extractor is on the case?
Maybe one man on the slide pulling it back and another with the dowel rod?

Flame suit on
what about pulling the trigger? Bullet goes out and case pushes it self out?
