I bought the 9mm about three weeks ago and have yet to go to the range because of work. The 40 cal is the most accurate gun I own. I generally shoot at a distance of 25' and the gun is incredibly accurate. Actually, I shoot the 40 XDm better than any gun I own. I absolutely love the XDm design fits my hand great and recoil is very controllable. My experience with the 40 cal has been 100% positive.

I am a 1911 guy myself, but shot a friend's xd at the range a few months back and then bought an XDm a week later. First couple times out, I had trouble holding what I would call an OK group. After a few more trips and getting used to the trigger, I really like it now. It won't replace my 1911 as a carry piece just yet, but it's damn fun to shoot.

Give it a few more trips to the range and I think you'll find it growing on you.
