XDM stovepipe/doesn't chamber round

Let's see if I can describe this correctly. All too often I get a stovepipe on my XDM 9mm. The previous shell ejects okay, but the next round doesn't chamber. I pull back on the slide and it chambers fine, and then occasionally the next round does the same thing. I pull the slide back some and it chambers fine. Then it operates okay for a few rounds. Quite often the slide does not lock back on the last round.
I have been scoring well but wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Maybe i'm limp wristing, but didn't think so.
Advise???

watch your thumb, if it riding high you may be hitting slide lock.

Could be a mag problem also.

A stovepipe is when the almost ejected shell hangs up and out blocking the slide. You're experiencing a failure to feed. Does it do it with all your mags? I'd guess limp wrist or your magazine.

Both mags?

I'd clean and light lubricate it all and try again. If it is repeatable, ask someone else to try. Then call SA.

What are you firing -- factory new, factory reloads, or self reloads? One of the guys I shoot with has had a lot of problems getting his reloads to feed in his S&W.

Change ammo type and make sure the chamber and under the extractor is clean. It could be other things but the ammo change is a good starting point. What are you shooting --115 gr. white box ??

Not knowing your experience shooting, one thing that I have heard that causes stove pipe malfunctions a lot can be limp wristing. Again, not sure of your experience, but limp wristing means that your grip does not support the weapons recoil enough and thus the weapon doesn't have enough energy after the shot to fully eject the round and clear it for the next.

I took a buddy out shooting the other day, he's a new shooter, and has a glock and with glocks when you limp wrist them usually when the shell ejects it bonks ya on the head. I know...I learned. It was grip problems.

Check your grip on the weapon. Also if you know someone that is an experienced shooter have them try shooting yours.

Yea it is a fail to feed. Limp wrist is my guess. If not change your ammo or mag. check the mag feed lips. maybe they are slightly bent. compare them to other mags that you have. if still messed up sent to sa.
