The XDM9 is my first gun as well. I've always had an interest in guns but had never even shot one until maybe 6 months ago. I was thinking about a Glock 19 until I discovered the XDM. I started looking a bit more seriously and the gun range/shop I go to had one in their case, so I picked it up. I've taken it out a few times since I got it and I'm very happy with it. I can't believe how much better I shoot with it than with anyone else I've tried.

Count me in as another first time hand gunner. My decision to XDM was from a brother-in-law who owns an XD. So far I have no regrets and eagerly await the release of the XDM .45.

new gun owner

if you can find a "beginning handgun clinic" in your area take the course. if it is a strain on your budget, one of you take it and teach the spouse.

i also shot skeet and trap for a long time. got into handguns and was suprised the amt of info to learn.

there are a lot of suttle points that can make handguns more enjoyable and more accurate and a good teacher can really help.

it is a good idea to take a course on handgun safety. one thing about a handgun as opposed to a shotgun, is that u can point the handgun at someone in the blink of an eye whereas u can see a shotgun being swung at you and make adjustments.

another reason i advocate training, is that when under pressure your brain and actions need to be trained or there is no telling what u might do.

Outstanding thoughts! Serious gun owners conduct serious training and practice.
