Barrel marks

I bought my XD(m) 9mm about 3 months ago. I've only put about 500 rounds through her so far and have recently noticed some wearing on the top of the barrel showing through the brass ejection port. The wearing is two parallel lines about 1/4" apart from each other, going across from right to left. It also feels like the wearing is sticking up a little higher than the rest of the barrel. I clean and lube everything after each range trip, so I was wondering if this was normal?

Yep, my XD(M) 40 look pretty much the same, normal wear. Just make sure to keep it lubed.

Completely normal... 2 pieces of metal rubbing together... and the top of the barrel isn't made completely flat, there is some geometry going on up there...

its normal....just send your barrel to Customized Creationz and have them polish it for $30. (customizedcreationz.com) it wil look good and cycle through shots better.

Is rust an issue on polish XD barrels?
