XDM Lubrication Choices

I cleaned and lubed by XDM today using FP-10. My prior lubricant was Remington's Rem Oil, which seems fine for my S&W stainless steel revolver. There was a distinct look afterwards of superior lubrication on the XDM, almost a wet type of look (I did not leave excess drippings) compared to the raw dry look that appears when I used Rem Oil on prior cleanings. The dry look was more enhanced the day after lubrication as well.

Although the directions are to use FP-10 for cleaning AND lubrication, I cleaned with Smith&Wesson Synthetic-Safe Gun Cleaner solution then lubed with FP-10.

First, am I doing right so far?

Second, my google searches are finding myriad products, for example Gun Butter and Slide Glide.

http://www.chemical-supermarket.com/product.php?productid=310

http://www.brianenos.com/pages/slide-glide.html

Would it be useful use either of these products AFTER a thin coating of FP-10?

Last, what other products are available that I have not located yet?

Thanks in advance,

dollarguy

I got a case of Royal Purple synthetic lube in the little sample cans. I can actually tell a huge difference between it and the Rem Oil. The RP doesn't gunk up either. 300rds at the range and it was still as slick as ever.

One retail size 16oz can would last a good long while.

You'll get a million different answers on this one! I use Militec-1. Lots of our soldiers in the war are using this over the military standard issue CLP. Thats just my $0.02.

Just stick with the FP-10 if that is working for you. I use Hoppes solvent to clean the barrel and CLP to clean and lube everything else. A lot of this is going to be personal preference on how you want to clean it. There is no reason to lube the weapon 2x with different brands, just going to waste money.
