Duracoat and "Clipdraw"
Clipdraw is the non-holster holster where the clip is taped with a super-duty double-sided tape to the gun's slide. And it works!
Does the duracoat finish prevent proper bonding of the aircraft grade adheasive to the slide? Would duracoat need to "harden" for a particular period of time before it would be okay to put this on? Or is this a total no-no for a duracoated slide? Thanks |

The "Clipdraw" that I have seen are not taped on. However, i'm not up to speed on their latest "Clipdraw" models.
But I AM very familiar with DuraCoat. DuraCoat should not inhibit the adhesion of this tape. However, you MUST let the DuraCoat 'cure' for at least 4 weeks before trying to install the Clipdraw. As a matter of fact, i recommend that you wait 4-6 weeks before you handle the weapon in any sort of agressive manor. But also realize that this "clip" is going to rub against your slide and over time the DuraCoat will start to wear away. It happens with holster wear all the time with 'painted' on systems like this. The only product I've seen that's superior to DuraCoat is Moly Resin. it's a bake on coat, self lubricating and far exceeds other paint on systems by far. Of course, it can only be used on metal since it's baked on at 300 degrees. Hope this helps.

I would never want my gun held secure by tape.

So don't! Seriously, what is the purpose of your post? This is not a debate about how to carry a weapon.
I have used clipdraw in the past and it works good. I'm only asking now because I want to know how the duracoat will factor into the equation. |
