You still got it on Sat like he said you would so one lie, one truth.
Sounds like James is too busy...
It is possible that he thought they were already shipped when he talked to you. Maybe he doesn't do all the shipping...just the smithing.
But.....if I were in his place and told you it was shipped and found out it was not....I would have called you and told you the error and let you know it would be next day..
Some shippers don't realize shipping can be a problem for some people.
Not just with gun parts.....Some shippers require signature on all deliveries..for those of us who are not home a lot...this is a problem.
Doesn't next day require a signature?

He seems to have bad business practices, and people here need to put James on the HOT SEAT.

It seems you folks are taking up for someone that is inherently taking advantage of people, their property, and most importantly their time and effort into getting their work done.

People here come to this site for insight and experience on how to get there problems fixed. I have been reading and reading about how he is just getting too busy. How do you or I know that, most likely he is busy, but there is no excuse for folks here taking up for a man who is totally unprofessional and taking advantage of people.

If I pay him and send him my property and then do not get it when expected and he LIES to me, all hell would have broke loose. That is not tolerable. I don't care who you are.

I feel that he has been screwing with folks for awhile, and we as a group need to stop doing business with him or we could be the next target of inexcuseble and intolerable customer service.

Also, some of you seem to think that he is playing fair by refunding shipping on customers he's dissatisfied, uh... I don't think so. He should complete the work on time and as PROMISED. To me lieing is like stealing.

I also think that if he intends on keeping his business, he needs to make a statement and an apology if apologies are due here, and to make good on whatever else he owes to people.

There is no excuse for any of this...

I think everyone here agrees that James seems to be in over his head.

The principle argument is that a little honesty can go a long ways. Just be upfront with your customers. It's frustrating when you expect a shipment, it doesn't arrive, and then you cannot get in contact with the shipper. Then you see others accounts of their experience and it resembles yours.

I don't think he was playing fair by refunding my shipping, it's about the only positive thing I can say about my experience because that came out of his pocket. It cost him a little monetary expense directly, but it cost him alot more by losing me as a customer in whole. "Word of mouth" is the greatest advertisement a company can gain, why, because it's free.

He needs to at least hire someone to do all of the shipping. Putting a slide in a box that big is a waste. I would use some of those Priority mail boxes because they are free.

Why don't you lighten up, dude. You say you "feel he has been screwing with folks for awhile". How long is awhile...you only joined this forum during the past two weeks. You have a total of nine posts, two of which are bad-mouthing a long time forum member.

You say "we as a group need to stop doing business with him." Who are you to tell forum members what they need to do? A nine-post newbie that just joined the forum and has no credibility with me.

Hopefully a Moderator will lock the thread...there has been enough crap posted in it, and it serves no useful purpose, IMHO.

I think this is a matter to be dealt with directly with James.

As far as others, nobody is holding a gun to your head to force you to use James or not. If you don't like what you have read here, then maybe you will decide as to if you will use him or not. Or, You could do a little more searching and see what others say.

In all business, mistakes will happen. I have had more then a few in my business, some jobs are just cursed from the get go. Yes it is a matter that James should talk to you on. So talk to him. It may take time, but handled correctly, I think this can be resolved in a positive manner.

Also, bear in mind that you are dealing with a one person shop, one guy to do it all, bills, phones, email, gun mods, sales, shows, shipping, etc. . Yes this is something he should account for when he promises delivery dates, but it is also something that should be accounted for by us the customers.

I remember reading a upset forum members rant about sending his gun to a big shop to have some work done and the gun came back not as desired. Big shop here. IIRC, he had a hard time getting it right with the shop.

Big, little, it don't matter, doo doo happens. If your in a position where you (speaking to the general population here, not singling anyone out) need definite times and dates, maybe you should talk to the shop about realistic dates.

I bought my xd 9mm V10 from SA at the National Matches in Camp Perry Ohio, I live about an hour away from there. I bought the gun, took it home and found out it didn't have a firing pin. I had to take it back, another two hour round trip. They made it up to me with a couple of freebies for me and my buddy on the second visit.

Then I had the front strap crack on me some time ago on the same gun, I sent it back to SA, it took many phone calls and emails over a period of time to get them to respond and then even more to get them to send me a replacement gun. It took time and perseverance on my part. They are a rather large company I think, they, with multiple employees and departments, still failed to ship the package when they said they would, just as james did.

Poo happens.
Whether it stinks or not depends on how you handle the situation.

I dealt with SA on a nice understanding level, and I got a brand new XD 45ACP, with full kit as a direct replacement for a XD 9mm V10 that I bought from them , used, for less then retail. I got to keep (and sell) the 9mm stuff as a bonus, they didn't want it back as it would be a further hassle to me, something they didn't want.

I have been here awhile, would I still use him if I needed his services, he would be in the running. While I have read some bad storys about him, I have also read some very very good ones. I have even read some posts where some member rips james a new one, only to later post that james made it right. I have read james posts where people call him at all hours of the day night weekend etc, and he deals with them as best as he can at the time.

The final outcome here in this situation is totally up to you and how you handle it.

Thanks!

What kind of "preacher" are you? One that likes to start things with people. Your comments are not appreciated. A proud NRA member? A believer of the 2nd amendment? Then if you are read up on the 1st amendment, Freedom of Speech. If you believe in one, then believe in them all... That's what I have and I'll use it! Thanks for your concern!

You're welcome! You can talk all that you want, but prepare to be talked to by others.
