Problems threads combined

James,
You recently put a set of sights on my XD9. The deal went smoothly, however I do have a problem related to the new sights.

Over the last few weeks, I have emailed you several times, PMed you through this board, and left voicemail on your business line.
I have yet to hear anything from you, yet I see that you are regularly posting and logging on here.
My issue is relatively simple to fix, yet I can't help but think that you're dodging me. Before you did the work, you were very prompt with answering the question that I had via email.

I feel like I've done EVERYTHING I could do to contact you and work this out privately...posting here was my last option. Initially, dealing with you was a pleasure, but now I'm confused as to what's going on.

You know how to get in touch with me.
Please show a little customer service.

At 25 yards, are you aiming 6 o'clock or sights covering the target. I forgot what the original problem was to recommend the #6 front. But if I remember that you shot low or wanted to use a point of aim instead of a 6 position. Now at 25 yards its going to be hard to hit the same place at all distances between point blank and 25yds. Is the pistol shooting to position at 10, 15 20. All pistols have trajectories and may move up or down. You would have to have an adjustable sight, say like the ones with three set screws that you adjust to each distance you want to be on. For PPC matches this is usually 50yrds/25yrds and 15/10yrds. I had replied to an e-mail with the reply subject like question.

James, thank you for this reply.
I have not received any other replies (emails, PMs, return voicemails).
I'd rather not discuss this in a public thread, but OK...

I contacted you wanting Meps put on my XD9 Service.
With the stock sights, the pistol shot 3-4" high at 25 yards...not a huge deal, but I thought that since you were going to put Meps on, I could get my desired POA/POI instead of the original 6 o'clock. You said a #6 front sight would get me POA/POI at 25 yards.

Now my gun shoots about 6" low at 25 yards. This is not going to work for me. I understand what you're saying about POI at different distances, but (1) 9mm is a pretty flat shooting round out to 25 yards with a variety of different ammo and (2) we were talking about POA/POI at 25 yards.

I think a swap to a #8 is the easy and simple fix.
Whether or not you agree, I would have liked a return email, PM, or voicemail.
You say that you sent an email. If that's the case, why would I still be PMing and leaving voicemail saying that I haven't heard back from you?
Why wouldn't you just pick up the phone and speak directly to me or answer a PM?
Respectfully.

A number 8 would match the stock front sight and put you back 4 inches high. I think that there is something else wrong, the difference between a 6 front and an 8 front should not move a grouping 10 inches. puting an 8 on would be no problem but it wont fix the issue. Also how is it hitting at closer ranges and how are you aiming. The 6 would actually raise your groups, I think there was a misunderstanding, I thought you were shooting 6 oclock and wanted to cover your targets and hit them. basically the 6 front would raise your groups about an inch or two. But if you group droped from 4 inches high to 6 inches low it should not do that at all that would be a drastic sight change. Check the front sight it should be stamped with a number a 6 the rear is an 8. Also have you let others shoot it and make sure they are also shooting low you cant say anything but let them basically shoot the pistol unkown that it shoots low to see if they have the same issue. This same set of sights has been installed on at least a hundred xds and none have ever droped 10 inches. Last question are the barrels the same and stock or have been "fitted" etc.

You say different ammo, but each manufacture, lot, weight of 9mm or any calibre will change the impact somewhat. Are these reloaded or factory if factory let me know the brand and weight. I can try them on one of my own pistols, I have one of each of the 9mms, and replacements for the 40`s to make them 9mm.

How's that? The #6 is taller than the #8, yes?
If so, the #6 would lower the point of impact, not raise it.

I purchased the XD9 NIB and put 300 rounds through it before sending it to you...the gun is completely stock and malfunction free. I'm getting 3" groups at 25 yards with everything I've shot through it (braced).
115gr Blazer
124gr+P GoldDot
147gr Ranger-T (yes, this one had a higher POI than the other two and I'm not counting this round).

Other people have shot this gun with similar results.

Again, you're missing the point. My elevation issue is a relatively simple fix if/when the correct front and rear # combo is determined. No biggie, stuff happens.
It's you're lack of communication/customer service that is so frustrating to me.

Currently the pistol is shooting 6" low at 25 yards. The #8 front will raise my POI. If you can send me a #8 front, I'll pay my gunsmith to do the swap.
I will then send you back the #6 and consider it a satisfactory end to the issue.
I realize some may say I should send the slide to you and let you do it, but I've had too many people contact me (since I started this thread) and tell me about communication and wait time issues that they're having with you right now.

I feel you TN-PoPO

T'was the last week of Oct that I sent my 4 slides: 2 slides for duracoat + sights and the 2 other slides for nightsight installation to Sir James as I addressed him. Emailed him 3x and called quite a few times. First conversation with him, he said he just received my slides and true enough the enclosed check was cashed. He told me that I should be receiving slides next week(Relief!) About a little over a week, I was able to catch him and told me that it takes a while for the duracoat treatment and promised that he will be sending in the 2 other slides(nightsight installation only) and the other 2(dracoat +sights installation) tue of next week. Another week past and I called him again and he said that it takes 3 weeks(he should have just told me that in the first place and where were the other 2 slides as promised?!!!) AS per my last conversation with Mr James he doesnt seem to be in the mood to do business with me and sounded like he was annoyed. I wouldnt be calling him wasting his and my time had he just told me what i really should expect.
Sorry posting bout this. I have been reading posts here too and was impressed by the work of Mr James as posted with pictures etc. that I called him and right away got a reply via my celphone and sent my slides in a heartbeat. I am just fantasizing that he is just babying my slides and I hope I dont experience any problems associated with your slide my friend.

I guess I dont have to be subsonic this time. Who knows I might be heard.
Good night.

sleepless,
Subsonic

Try different ammo. Different ammo has different POI from you POA.

With fixed sights you have to make the adjustment yourself.

I can't say for sure, but from the clues James is back into college courses and this is getting into the cram time before finals which is a wicked time for anyone in college. I cannot excuse anything, but this may explain delays in even getting onto the net to check messages.

'Been there and worse (with below a single digit GPA... that was a bad semester)! Don't ask as I won't tell.

Got my slides back

I finally got my slides back after a month and 3 weeks and still after few calls to Mr James. He said that theres some scratches so he had to re do the slides coats. He said he was gonna give me a present for christmas(he said just a surprise. Anyway, when I got the slides after9 days(after last conversation) I noticed there were scratches on the left side of my slide and under the slide. Really I was so furious. He has been promising things to me and I was just really hopeful that it turns out right. Almost two months of waiting. I also want to know why i dint get the extra pipes for the hi-viz front sites which is far less important than the other promises and the quality of the work.(refer to my previous post)
For those of you that had excellent services from Mr. James good for you, but I would not do anymore business with him. I am sending my slide to another state to re do the slide.
Such a waste of time and money.
Is the guy(james) working alone? Why is he not on top of the quality of his work?
Nough said!!!
