looks good!
i did mine earlier this week too...i did mine by hand, started with 600 grit wet/dry paper, then used 1200 wet/dry, then 1500, then 2000....then i rubbed it with 3m buffing compound, then rubbed it with buffing glaze.
i let my barrel sit in hoppe's #9 gun cleaner over night....then i cleaned it as normal.
a DIY done right is the best form of modification.

Now do the guide rod end, grip safety, mag release, disassembly lever, slide stop, and all the pins. It will look sharp. I did mine, but don't have a camera that will take pictures worth a darn.

I agree it looks great..you would think that they would do the barrel at the factory since it is the first to show wear?

It looks like you did a very good job. That sure would look sweet with a Don's Guide Rod. (If you don't know where to get 'em, check Pistol Gear.)

thanks!
to be clear -- if you look at it, you can absolutely see your reflection, i just don't think you could read off it like some folks can with theirs. I'll get better photos.
And yeah, the polished DGR might be a next step.

The XD is a Tactical weapon not Bling.... Wear indicates use, more wear = more use.... wear is good...
