Usually on the top front, and on the top of the chamber. Normal.

It's normal. I've got them around my barrel and on the top of the ejector area (don't know what this is called). It gives her personality.

Same here. I just bought my XD a couple of weeks ago, and already noticed a bit of wear.

I'm slightly relieved to see that it's normal, but at the same time, I hate to hear that it's normal.

I love playing with my camera so I took a few pics of the *wear* on my XD40 barrel.. And for those who are wondering about it being a *bad* thing.. It really isn't. It really isn't wearing anything only the finish.. It's simply polishing the surfaces.. The barrel locks up with the slide and gives you accuracy.. After it's polished it basically won't get any worse... Mine has roughly 2000rds through it.. It doesn't look worse than after 100 rounds.

And here is the top of my chamber.. I think someone was asking about that.

The "hood". You'll see the same wear on any pistol with a blued hood. Even on brand new guns in a display case. They get scraped being test fired.

I always wondered why they don't just polish the hood so they don't looked scraped, but c'est la vie. (I used a "lead out" cloth on the hood of my barrel....it took off enough of the bluing so it now has a sort of 'black chrome" look).

Peace,
D.
