A little bit of a different style, but still good. I like the wax in the crayon because it actually hardens a bit when its cooled...grease pencil seems like it would be more likely to smear without some kind of clearcoat over it. Thanks for the link though.

I know that there are probably alot of other write-ups out there on this topic that use a variety of techniques, I just wanted something for the members here to have immediate access to. Thats all.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank CPES for giving me one more excuse to fondle my new gun.

Talking ...

What I used was a blow dryer to heat up any of the surface areas to apply enough heat for the gold crayon ( Lacquer Stik) to melt just right to flow into the engravings. Came out very well and very little mess. Just wiped it off with just a dab of GunButter.........and a lil detail clean up work and Done!!!

BTW........... this was done after i had the slide and controls refinished by CCR in a Black Satin Ceramic finish.......made it even smoother to apply

Sticky!!

This is asked often enough. Why not make it a sticky? For some reason I've never thought of heating my slide up first. Also Crayola Crayons work better than cheap no-name brands.

Rotty, that gold coloring looks AWESOME. Very cool...yours is the only one I've seen like that. I thought about using a hair dryer, but I thought that it would zap too much heat into the slide at once. I didn't want to heat soak it. Apparently it worked for you though! Kudos man, looks great.

Krackels, I was hoping that the admin would feel the same way. This is an easy, cheap way to add some personalization to your gun, so as you said, why not?

I also agree with using crayola crayons exclusively. Other brands are cheaper for a reason.
