This REALLY BUms me out. I finally made the leap from Glock to XD, and now I can't do **** with my XD. My glock has been built up and down by me, it probably doesn't have an original factory part on it except for the frame and slide.

I had high hopes of my new XD compact 45, now I'm afraid to shoot it in case something breaks

Well, I broke the 1500 rd mark with my XD .45 service compact today and nothing has broken yet. The trigger is starting to feel really good though.

Damn, I'm sure glad I found this post. I wanted to buy another XD, but I will never do any more business with Springy until they make parts available. Just like S&W, no more business to them from me until the locks become optional.

Oh, well, at least SA only burned me for one. I probably would have bought a G19 instead if I knew about this parts nonsense, though I wouldn't have been nearly as happy with the actual pistol.

Does anyone know if you can find spare parts for 1911's?

heheh

Seriously people.........

It's not like the XD is made out of glass! IT'S A FRICKIN COMBAT WEAPON! Durable, reliable.....

IF, and I mean IF, it breaks, sure, you have to send it back. They WILL cover shipping costs if you include your shipping reciept in the box when you send it to them.

Be PATIENT people. I'll bet that they start releasing parts soon.

Oh, and notice how more and more aftermarket companies are coming up with parts......?!!!!!

Matt

As a consumer, the only real means I have to make my voice heard is by carefully selecting where I spend my money. I probably won't ever need a spare part, but if I do I think it's absolutely ridiculous that this company will refuse to accomodate me.

If they don't want to provide the parts, they should communicate with their customers and say why. I've read on other lists that since 1911's have so many aftermarket parts and there are so many "Frankensteins" out there that a guy could get a bad one and not know that it isn't a factory standard, making him take the opinion that all 1911's are junk.

Maybe by forcing us to return the pistol to them, Springy is just trying to ensure that all the pistols in circulation aren't modified by unqualified amateurs and therefore should be up to their high standards to ensure their reputation. Who knows, though, because as far as I can tell they aren't even willing to talk about it publicly. I just think that's just dumb business sense to alienate your customers who already buy and use and like your product. It's much easier to hold on to the fish you already have in the boat than to let him get away and have to catch another one!

With this policy, I feel like Springy is pushing me away. Too bad, I really love my XD9 and just took her out this morning to the range. The parts policy is the only taint I've found so far. Even the finish issue I don't care about. The shop I bought it at said it should last 6 months to a year and then Springy would re-finish it with the better stuff (tennifer?) for around $100. No problems, awesome accuracy - hitting playing cards at 25 yards second time out.

It is important that if you feel that way to let them know. And not just the person that answers the phone or their supervisor. Get to the top and let them know how you feel and in what ways it effects their business.
