Wow I'm seriously considering getting this done for my service 9mm because of some printing issues I'm having as it gets warmer and the clothes go to summer clothes does anyone know if any of our sponsers offer this I'm just too afraid I'd F*** this up and the wife would beat me for ruining a 500+ dollar gun I insisted on buying

Charlie.45.. You know you have to buy new magazines for it. The magazine frame is shorter but still hold the same amount of rounds. The normal magazines I added the mag extensions from pistolgear.com. Works great... carrying it right now.

why dont you just buy the subcompact model if you want a shorter grip, instead of mutilating the service model? i dont understand the logic behind "chopping" your grip. If you buy a service model then find its printing beyond what you find acceptable, i would say to bring it back before you start firing it and exchange the service model for a subcompact. Though you should have done the research before you made the purchase.. Theres nothing wrong with asking the dealer to let you try each size model in your holster, or the holster you plan to purchase. Theyre going to be making something in the ballpark of 500 dollars off you, so letting you put the gun on your hip for a few minutes isnt going to make them refuse the sale.. just my 2 cents.

On second thought, think about what you're doing to the resale value of your gun. If you plan on keeping this gun for all of time, good for you. However if you plan on selling/trading it in the future, anyone who knows anything about a gun(especially at a gun shop) isn't going to pay half the price you bought it for. In fact at a gun shop, they might even refuse the gun as a trade in, or buying it all. I'll do some asking and see what the folks at the local gun shops think of this.

Just to reply... I do respect your opinion. This is what happened. I bought a XD45 Tactical after the Service model. I love the Tactical for shooting matches. Then the Service model became my back up but I didn't want it to sit around going to waste... so I chopped it and carry it. Now with the extensions and the shorten version grip I get two guns for the price of one. I don't plan on selling it. I weighed all the factors into buying my guns and rifles before I buy. It took me 3 weeks of research and 5 trips to different gun shops, pawn shops, internet.com and pricing them before I bought it the XD45ACP Service model. I even asked my wife... bless her heart she said "sure what ever makes you happy". Then I bought it the next day.

My next job is to work on my 30.06 Savage 110D. It was my first rifle from my dad and he passes away last year. I want to refinish the stock, site it in... maybe add a different scope to it. I'm great with my hands and love doing this can of stuff.

I did sell mine. For about $80 more than I paid for it.
I take that back. It was $60 more than I paid for the gun new; still not bad.
