Magazine Release Hard To Push
Been cleaning my new XD Subcompact .40 and I am finding that the magazine release is hard as he*l to push. Any suggestions to "loosen it up?"

Have you tried removing the mag release button and cleaned it thoroughly? Then give it some light coat of CLP. It may have some carbon build up in there and or sand that accumulated...

Are you finding this when dropping a full magazine? Or with full and empty magazines? Usually with a full magazine and one in the chamber, when trying to release the magazine, it's a little stubborn.

Push up on the magazine floor plate while pressing the mag release, should make it much easier. They do lighten up with use.

Just letting you know my XDm 9mm is the same way. It is brand new, with less than a total of 500 rounds thru it.
The magazines that came WITH my weapon....The shorter 13 round mag showed no problems. The longer 19 round mag, if I had it full with 19 rounds, it would be HELL to load. If I could get it to load, then it was near impossible to release while still full of rounds. Pushing up on the bottom of the mag while pushing the release button was still hard.
I purchased an extra 19 round magazine directly from Springfield Armory via their web site. Even when EMPTY, this magazine was easy to load but HELL to release. Your fingers turn purple you are pushing so hard.

Have you guys tried releasing the magazine when the slide is locked to the rear? it should ease the tension on the magazine when there's no pressure on the ammo pushing on the magazine down...
