Pistol cleaning kit?

I'm new to pistols and just bought my first XDM 9mm a few days ago. Should be getting it tomorrow, but do you guys recommend a certain cleaning kit? It looks like a lot of people prefer a bore brush? Would prefer a "all in one" kit. Links would be helpful to, thanks for any help.

From the way I understand it comes down to this Otis and Hoppes oil I use Hobbes it works really well..Otis is expensive but Hoppes is really recommended. It just comes down to personal preference your not buying the gun oil kit your buying the name of the manufacturer.

Come to think of it, we actually use Hoppes for our rifles. I used to be an avid hunter but school took that over forgot all about what we used. That kit is nice I may pick one up tonight. Thanks for the replies do far guys, helps a lot

I have never used an all in one kit. Here is what I suggests and all I ever use.

Bore Snake 9mm/38cal
Micro fiber cleaning cloth
Q-tips
Paper Towels
Pick set
Cheap Oil
Cheap Grease

Never had a malfunction or problem.

I started lubing with this. I can see where it could easily be too much so go lightly if you use it.

Alright thanks everyone, I definitely plan on a bore snake, and most likely Hoppes oil/cleaners. Is there a link anywhere on how to clean my XDM? Like what to oil and not oil etc?

  1. Bore Snake of appropriate size
  2. Microfiber cleaning rags
  3. Frog Lube CLP Paste
  4. Frog Lube CLP Liquid
  5. Gun cleaning brush (like a toothbrush with stiff nylon bristles)

I used to be a Hoppe's man until I tried Frog Lube. The stuff has amazing qualities. Once you get a gun all frogged up the action is silky smooth and it runs cleaner.
