What is your preference in gun oil?

Hi everyone first off I'd like to say I'm new to these forums and just picked up my first hand gun not to long ago. It's a xdm 3.8 .40 I've only put about 20 rounds through it so far and I love it. I'm trying to be OCD about taking care of it and since it's the first pistol I've owned I'm in the gray area of what cleaning oil to use. Any advice?

I use RemOil.

I used 3n1 oil for years. Then I started using left over drippings from Mobil 1 quarts as lubricant for my AR15's. I gradually began using it on the other guns as well. A little bit goes a long way.

Oh boy,, Your going to get 76 different favorite oils,

I decided on MILITEC and it has worked very well. I will have to say, mobile 1 synthetic is also outstanding.

There are oils not to use BUT,,,,,,,,,,,, there really are NO miracle oils. The synthetics seem to stand out above the rest.. Theres a PLATE of truth test on the INTERNET.

It subjects a plate that is divided up into test blocks to harsh enviormental conditions. The blocks are treated with different GUN OILs. The results will tell you WHAT NOT TO USE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rem Oil is very popular but is near useless as a rust preventative in challenging environments.
