Ballistol, been using it to clean and lube all of the guns I've owned for over 15 years, works like a charm Welcome to Ballistol USA!

I used to use Hoppe's Elite, but am transitioning to Mobil 1 full synthetic gear oil 75W-140. A little goes a long way, it stays in place really well, it's easy to clean after a day of shooting and it's cheap in comparison to the small bottles of gun specific lube you get. The main drawback I've come across is odor...it smells kind of funny.

It's strange that it really soaks in almost to the point that it looks like its not there and then go shoot it and the heat gets it going again. Look into it.

I'm a bit anal about cleaning my guns (I actually enjoy it). I can't tell (so far) which approach yields best long term cleaning/lubing/protection, but post-shooting the heavy carbon deposits seem to come off easier on the Frog Lube gun.

Just as these three said they use FrogLube, I use it as well. It's what works best IMHO and I'm in Southern California. I've been looking for a product that's an "all-in-one" of sorts because I store my xd for a long time, then I shoot a lot, then it goes into storage. I've had my XD since Sept of 2011 and had about 5,000 rounds through it. I've used Millitec, RemOil, BreakFree, and Hoppe's along with a few others.
I've noticed that soon as I switched to FrogLube I cannot see any parts "wearing". Before FL the Locking Block, ejector, striker safety lever, and other associated parts that rub together or create a good amount of friction began to what I thought was wear prematurely. Since using FL I have noticed no more wear. I think part of this is in fact that after XXXXX amount of rounds I did not "re-oil" my gun, as the heat from firing it evaporated what lube was on the gun. (Yes, I get trigger happy at times...) I did not want to however oil so much that it made my hands dirty or foul up the gun, so maybe that's my fault.
FL is however th only product on the market that I know of that is non-toxic, and as stated above, I can use it at the dinner table without the wife complaining much. Best thing I can say is Experiment, use what you think works best, just make sure the gun is CLEAN, LUBRICATED, and PROTECTED from the elements. or at least lubricated and protected as it will operate dirty just fine, but clean is a better option if it's your primary defense weapon.
Good Luck !!
Tom

I use Hoppe's #9 as a cleaner and follow with Miltech now.
MC2500 is better than BreakFree CLP for lubricating and protecting, but it is NOT a cleaner, so it doesn't dissolve/suspend metal particles and powder well. I also use Milltech TW25B grease just like what comes with the Sig Sauers... This stuff works great but eventually attracts a lot of gunk turning from white to gray... and then gums up when dirty.
The smartest thing I did was stop buying the 0.5 ounce syringes of MilTech TW25b grease and start buying a 4oz container... 8x more for like 2x the cost.
Then I fill up one of these with whatever I am using... can put a thin bead in the rails of my XD or Sig:
I bought a box of 50 of them!
