Have you looked into Frog Lube? I don't like oil anymore as it just runs off the critical areas especially if you carry every day all day long. I switched to a gun grease and that worked well and later found Frog Lube grease. Wow is all I can say. I use it in my AR now as well. It's strange that it really soaks in almost to the point that it looks like its not there and then go shoot it and the heat gets it going again. Look into it.

Try not to confuse CLEANERS with OILS. They BOTH are completely different and have their purposes.
When you purchase a combo cleaner and oil,, you sacrifice something. Just like an ALL SEASON tire, Its not good for performance driving and it not good for severe snow conditions.... Its a COMPROMISE between both.

I like to use CLP. But my favorite lubricating oil would be a combination of marvel mystery oil and mobile 1.

I'm the kinda guy that manufacturers of gun cleaning/maintenance products love; I just have to try everything. I'm currently running a highly unscientific experiment. I have one gun that I'm throwing every petroleum based product I can find at, and one that get's nothing but Frog Lube. I've only just started and plan to keep it up for at least a year. I'm a bit anal about cleaning my guns (I actually enjoy it). I can't tell (so far) which approach yields best long term cleaning/lubing/protection, but post-shooting the heavy carbon deposits seem to come off easier on the Frog Lube gun.

I just started using TW25 gun grease but I've been using M-Pro 7 LPX gun oil.
I bought the TW25 based on a post on the 1911 forum from a guy using it on his Wilson with over 75k rounds through it. Figure if it works for him it will work for me.
I started using M-Pro at the recommendation of a buddy of mine who's a professional gunslinger and that's what they were issued. Again, I figure if it works for him it will work for me.

There are some good recommendations so far. I'd say, find something that's "reputably good", and within your budget. Also if it doesn't stink up the house and piss the wife off, that's a plus. The bottom line is proper cleaning and lubrication with decent products will keep your guns happy and healthy.

I just switched to Flog Lube and really like it... for what I shoot it cleans up a little better and smells way better than oil. Important when cleaning gun on kitchen table with wife present
