My friend used this stuff.
Bright Sights High Visibility Gun Sight Paint
He loves it.
When I was in the military we used nail polish but the trick is finding a color that wont match a target color.

just painted the front sight on my gp 100. I used a neon orange paint. It is called homefront, and I got it at Ace Hardware. It took four coats, but it looks good, and is easy to see.

Tester's Model Paint. High Gloss. I bought a hobby kit and have enough to paint my sights 1000's of times. =)
Although I don't paint the sight, I routinely(twice a year) clean out the dots and repaint them so that the white dots are fresh and sharp.

My front sight is awfully dingy/faded on my subcompact... out of curiosity, what do you guys use to apply the paint/nail polish?

A pin head works good or you can just use the brush that the nail polish comes with and use a cleaning cloth with some polish remover to wipe away the excess.

I used a tooth pick. Worked perfect for me.

I've used the back of a match from a book of matches for detailed paint jobs on other projects, it works great. Might want to give that a try.
