Guide Rod weld

Have noticed this join on the end from since it was new. Is this normal or something waiting to go wrong? Could someone confirm or post a photo of theirs!

Thanks,
Alistair.

Looks like she's almost done. Yes, they do wear out after a while. How many rounds do you have in it?

Only about 500 rounds, apart from the metal being visible, the actual appearance has not changed since it was new.

Yeah, definately call SA. If it's really only got 500 rounds, then you got a bad recoil system. They should send you another one under warrenty. I would think that gun had 5000 rounds, no 500.

Ok, I take back my previous statement. I just went and looked at my XD45 Service, and it looks equally as bad as yours. I've always thought that end cap was welded onto the rod, but now i'm thinking it might be pressed on. If it is pressed on, there's really no chance of it coming off. It is held in place by the barrel, and the slide.

I guess if it ain't broke, then don't fix it.
