no it was all black oringinaly. i polished it with a dremel, then filled the engravings in with black nail polish.

donk, that looks really good man. I might have to do that to my grip as well. I've been considering polishing the barrel. I just don't have a dremel.

the prp rubber grips for the xdmcompacts will fit the .45 nicely, there is a little bit of space, but Its not enough to justify waiting for who knows how long for them to make it for the .45

I emailed prp a week ago about rubber grips for the 3.8 45, they said that it was in the making and would be ready around the 1st of march and would let me know when they are.ill keep you guys posted.

i guess at this point, you might as well wait, but here is a pic of my 45 with the current compact grip tape on it, you can see where the little gap is, it's the only spot where the fit isn't perfect, and it doesn't bother me, didn't even know it wasn't right until seeing the smaller ones with it on.

This is what I have done to my 3.8 45 compact Utilmate match prp kit, xtreme grips and stippling. The grip is now perfect! I hated the smooth texturing. Next is night sights and I'm done.
