I wouldnt call it snake oil, as I was surprised that the metal did seam to soak up some of the stuff. It works more like a dry barrier. You can feel it, and when it heats up then it starts to lube. From my experience though it takes too many shots for it to heat up enough to start protecting in the lube department. Especially on a tight fit pistol. I wont use it on my 1911's as they are extremely tight fit pistols, but on the XD I feel it works, but just needed a little extra lube added to the rails and barrel. Its still to expensive for what it is and what it does. Sometimes you have to drink the the cool-aid to find out is just water, sugar and added color.

Premium lubeŽ

I have used Premium Lube paste and premium lube ultra liquid for about 7 years now. It keeps my guns in perfect shape. I use it on all my guns from my 1911 to my ar-15s. I have had no wear on any parts or slides. It is made from natural ingredients and is biodegradable. I buy mine from midsouth shooters supply but you can Google it and find it about anywhere. I buy my patches already prelubed with the premium lube paste and it works great. They also have prelubed cloth gun wipes.

Militec is an outstanding lube, I even use it in my vehicles (per their directions). It far surpasses mosr "high quality name brand" protectors out there. A better rust inhibitor than Breakfree, Hoppes, Remington,,,could go on and on.

I, for one, don't blast my weapons with salt water on purpose! If a firearm comes in contact w/ SW, maybe your slide & barrel wont rust, but EVERY INTERNAL PART & SPRING will rust, so it doesn't matter one bit

Can you imagine all the people baking their gun parts in ovens. Then people actually salt tested it and was one of the worst metal protectants.

I'll try any snake oil for laughs if its cheap enough. But at that price I'll just chew some wintergreen gum while I'm cleaning my guns.

(no offense to anyone that spent their hard earned money on FL. I'm sure its just as adequate as any of the products I use)

Look at the slide rails under a microscope, its like the Rocky Mountains!! Especially talking about a Parkerized metal!

And FYI, I DO NOT use Frog Lube, too expensive when Gunzilla does a great job, even down the bore. Gunzilla also smells great, like french fries, you dont have to heat it up to apply, & it is Also bio-degradeable

Plenty other lube or CLP's work great.....just not motor oil, not up to the temps or the correct viscosity. And yeah, the flaming freaks will come out at that comment.......losers

I personally like Eezox over Frog Lube. Frog Lube is a good firearm oil. Do I think it's overpriced? Yes. Do I think it's snake oil? No.

Eezox premium synthetic lubricants from Warren Custom Outdoor Products

As far as people using motor oil for their firearms it is simply not made for this application. Not only was it not made for firearms, it simply does not work as well as firearm made lubes.

Mobil 1 is not a very good rust preventative. Also, many popular gun oils (e.g. Rem Oil) provide inferior protection against rust.

Militec-1 is a dry lube, contains chlorine, and has been explicitly banned by the U.S Army.

Even human-safe mineral oil (first used by the Germans on their guns in the early 1900's) has proven to be a far better rust preventative than Breakfree, Hoppes, Rem Oil, FP10, Militec-1 etc.

In high salt environments (near the ocean), some internal parts and springs can be sprayed with silicon. Always check with the gun manufacturer before doing so! High quality guns like the S&W M&P series use stainless steel internal components that have a low carbon content to resist rust.
