This is a discussion on XDm 9mm 4.5" + 1100 rounds + FrogLube within the XD Gunsmithing and Maintenance forums, part of the XD Talk category; I thought I would bring this thread back up to see if anyone had any new updates on how froglube works to prevent wear? Metal ...

I have about 5000 rounds through my XDM, about 16-1700 of those have been while using froglube on it. There is a very small amount of wear on the gun. I didn't notice any increase or decrease in wear after starting froglube.

I don't run the gun completely dry like some people do with froglube. After shooting I strip it, clean it, and put froglube on like I would do with any other lube.

I'm still satisfied with this product. It makes cleaning the gun a breeze. All the gunk on the gun comes right off with one swipe of a rag. Using other products I had to work a lot harder to clean the gun.

It also stays in place. I can lube it and go weeks carrying it. When I strip it the next time, the lube will all be right where it was when I applied it. A very small amount of froglube will go a long way. The order of it that I got is going to last me a loooong time.

I'm glad it's working out for you on the XDM, Have you got it on any all steel Handguns? I have been thinking about carrying My XDM once in while just don't have 1000 rds thru it yet to see if it will be reliable yet.
BTW you think that froglube is better than Weaponshield? the reason I ask is weaponshield is what I use right now on my stainless steel weapons.
Froglube just really interests me.

The OP's wear pictures don't seem to be coming up anymore. Does anyone know where I can get a look at them?

I was at some function, I thing a street fair, where they demonstrated Engineshield, using bearings like in the picture on their mainpage. I use it regularly in my cars, I wonder how different the formulation is between the Engineshield and the Weaponshield. I bet they are very similar if not identical.
