Purchased a new XD40SC about a month ago. Only put around 200 rounds through it so far. The problem I am having is with the 12 round extended magazine. With the SA loader or my Uplola speed loader, I am only able to get 10 rounds in it. It looks like the bullets are not staggering but sitting right on top of each other. Not sure if this is the problem but what else could it be and how can I fix this issue? The 9 round magazine works fine.

Figured it out. Website says (1) 9 round and (1) 12 round come with the gun. Mine came with (1) 9 round and (1) 10 round. Going to look into this further. I thought they all came with a 9 and 12.

Called the gun store where I purchased the on gun on 2/23/2010. They don't admit to the error, but I bet the magazine was swapped by accident while showing the XD guns to customers. Only the Tactical comes with a 10 round magazine and the 10 round can only be used on the tactical or service (could be wrong). This might explain why the magazine is hard to load into the gun and why I might be getting bullets that do not want to load. 9 round magazine works fine. Also the magazine release when pushed doesn't want to release the magazine. Now do I call SA customer service or am I now stuck with the wrong magazine?

The understand of the base plate will tell you what gun it is for.

I took the gun and magazine back to the store and they figured it out. One of their 40SC was a California model which only can have a 10 round magazine. They realized that they were switched and they swapped them out for me which I thought was pretty cool. They also realized that they never order California restricted guns and will be sending it back to get the model with the high capacity magazine model. Still can't explain why the 10 round sucks going into and out of the gun. The new 12 round one works just fine like the 9 round.
