i would suggest get other ammo and try again. umc has inconsistent quality imo, sometimes i go through 100 rounds with no issue, some times ftf every 10 rounds...

I wouldn't be too concerned yet with one box through a brand new pistol.
I've never tried UMC in my XDm. I'd suggest trying another brand just to check. I generally use WWB (Winchester White Box) as my generic test standard. So far though my XDm has taken WWB, Federal, Federal American Eagle, and Fiocci with no FTE or FTF issues.

I always seem to have one or two failure to feeds or failure to ejects on new pistols. It always clears up. Don't sweat it.

Wolf is better than UMC nothing but problems with UMC!!! Get blaser Brass, Federal Campion, WWB, American Eagle, etc.

The Winchester White Box from Walmart usually give my XD40sc about 2 FTF's per 100 rounds.
Federal .40's, about 1500 of them, have gone through the barrel flawlessly (also from Walmart, but about $2 cheaper per 50. Go figure?)

I just happened to have some fresh ammo from Walmart. I'd started with the Winchester 100rnd boxes of 165gr .40SW and switched to the Federal 180gr .40SW last week. I haven't tried out the Federals yet. I've fired 200 rounds of the Winchester through my XD40SC over the last couple weeks. I've had one Failure to Feed where the round got stick on the feed ramp when the slide was coming forward and pinched it in. I attributed it to "new gun syndrome."
I pulled out my digital calipers, zero'd them, and started taking measurements of the bullet right where it enters the case. I picked a random sampling of 10 rounds out of the 100 round box of each ammo I had on hand.
The Winchester 165gr round were all 9.96 through 10.01mm. I'm not going to write down exact numbers(I'm anal... but not THAT anal) but the majority of the bullets ran at 9.99 or 10.00mm. Only 1 or 2 were outside that range.
For bullet length the Winchester averaged 28.36mm(the majority was right at 28.36) while the min/max was 28.22 - 28.43mm
The Federal 180gr ran 10.02 as the low and 10.08mm as the high. The standard seems to be 10.04mm. For bullet length the Federal's averaged 28.46mm while the min/max was 28.39 - 28.52mm
So... overall the Federal's are a slightly larger bullet, and slightly longer. Well inside the spec's for the weapon to fire, but if you have a problem with the larger/longer bullets then perhaps that can help you narrow down your problems.

This is a great idea... I check my reloads pretty carefully but I never apply that to factory ammo. I haven't much ammo trouble with any of my pistols, but I have to keep this tip in mind if I do find feed issues.
