Can you hard chrome a barrel?
I plan on having my slide and small parts hard chromed by Tripp, but can I also have the barrel done? I haven't even shot it yet, and it already has wear on the part of the barrel that has the serial and model numbers showing just from racking the slide. I'm not sure what that part is called. Is it possible to have the barrel hard chromed and, if I do, will the serial number still be visible or does the chrome fill it in at all? Thanks.

Sure it can be hard chromed.
But please be reminded that the barrel is going
to receive wear and tear which will show whether
it is hard chromed or whatever finish it has on it.
Suggest that you ask Virgil his opinion before you
really decide to hard chrome the barrel however.

Yes, EVERY gun will show wear there - it is metal on metal contact.
Even if U hard chrome it - metal on metal contact will wear even hard chrome - you will get some lighter color, silver type wear - There is nothing U can do about it.
I have hard chromed slides before, but always leave the barrel alone since that will wear no matter what.
