Stainless Steel slide blemishes

I have an XD45 stainless steel slide can I use some sort of metal polish to remove some of the imperfections on my slide. It has some blemishes on the ends of the slide which looks darker than the rest I like my slide to have a more consistent finish on them. Is it safe to use metal polishers on my slide. Thanks in advance

There is this stuff I used called "flitz" it comes in a tube. Works VERY well. Make sure after your done to coat it with a thin layer of oil. I got a ss slide on my 9mm xdm that had little rust spots. It took them off and it looks great now!

I read on the internet that White Vinegar is good for cleaning stainless steel.

If you have some in the house, try it before you start spending money on cleaning compounds.
