I also use Hater Sauce (Paintball Grease) on the slide rails.
Makes it very smooth.

Excellent point Kaboom...always determine the dependability of any weapon you are going to carry. From there, I do live by the motto that a clean gun is a happy gun so I normally clean after each shooting session.

Also, if you carry often it is a good idea to go through the gun at least weekly to get any dust bunnies out and assure it is operational.

I won't be able to CC until the state of Texas issues the permit. I have heard that they are 5-6 months behind right now. However since I am in Texas I can carry in my truck without the permit. So right now it stays in the truck / car and with me in the house. I shoot evey week at least 50-100 rounds to stay in practice.

I clean all my weapons every time I shoot them. Lesson learned during 22 years in the Army.

+1 ... Now after every trip to the range ...
But when I first got both my 9mm serivce and 45 service, I cleaned/lubed them once right out of the box and then ran close to a 1000 rounds through each just to see if they would have a problem running dirty. Both were 100% ...

Texas CHL seems to be running around 90 days unless you forgot something or need new fingerprints. I should be about 30 days away based on my tracking of its progress. Always good to Keep up the practice in the mean time.

I have cleaned mine after 5 rounds and then I have cleaned after 500 rounds and 10 days. Ran great no matter when I cleaned.
XD-40 service and XDm-40.
