Drop-in Barrel
I did some searching through some of the old posts and couldn't really find an answer.
This is my "debut" post. I just purchased my XD-45 Service w/ thumb safety today. Got a good price and after shooting my buddies XD-9 and another's XD-45 I was convinced this was the handgun for me. My other firearms are listed in my signature.
I'm looking for a place to get a semi-drop in compensated barrel. I've googled my arse off and couldn't find any sites that sells a compensated barrel for the .45ACP. I did look through the sponsor sites, etc listed in the FAQs. Any info you guys can throw my way would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome, I don't have a clue about the barrel. Maybe somebody will chime in soon.

If you want a threaded barrel or a ported barrel, look over at Pistol Gear and Springer Precision.

These are the one's that I would have pointed you to, but they beat me to it (LOL). Anyhow, welcome to the forum from a fellow New Mexican. Lots of good people and information here. Have fun.

Thanks for the replies. None of the sites seem to have exactly what I want. I don't really want a 5" barrel on my Service, so it looks like I'll be ordering a 4" barrel and either having it modified before it's shipped or have it smithed locally. I think the hang up is that I don't just want it ported for the sake of porting, I want it ported for compensation. We'll see what I can work out. I'l post back here once I figure it out. Thanks again.

That would probably work if they made it for the .45ACP. According to their site, they only make it for the small frame calibers. Which is the hang-up I'm finding most places. Which is also why I'm sure it's going to be a "custom" order type thing.
