Round Extraction Problem in 45ACP

Hey,
I recently purchased a 45ACP and love it so far. It is my first pistol so I am somewhat unfamiliar with troubleshooting. I insert a mag and rack the slide to put a round in the chamber. The gun will fire properly but the slide remains locked and won't eject the brass. It worked great for 200 rounds so I am thinking I possibly screwed something up when I cleaned it last; but I have since taken it apart and don't see anything wrong. Any ideas?? Thanks for any input, Will

Does it let you manually rack the slide again to eject the fired brass? have you checked to make sure the spring is facing the right direction?

Does the slide cycle at all? Is it fully in battery after firing a round? Are you using standard ammo (i.e. not shotshells or anything similar)? Is the slide noticeably harder to move?

Are you shooting reloads? Once the gun fires and the shell is not ejected, can you cycle the slide manually? Is everything on the gun stock?

Yes, i can manually rack the slide an it ejects the brass and inserts a new round. The spring is facing the right direction. The slide does not cycle at all. The ammo has worked perfect for 200 shots. I have to manually rack the slide after every shot so I am pretty sure it is the pistol and not an ammo issue.

Are they reloads? If they are maybe the powder measure has changed? Have you tried different ammo? When you cycle the gun does if feed different that it did before? How much did you strip the gun to clean it, field strip or further?

I have not tried different ammo but it has worked perfect and then started this problem with every shot. It seems to feed the same. I only field stripped it.

I'm sure that even reloads would move the slide a little.

So it doesn't move AT ALL? As in you can literally put your thumb or finger on the back of the slide and not notice anything? And is the felt recoil the same?

Just fired it again. Slide doesn't move at all. Recoil feels the same as before. Thanks for all the quick replies. This is a great forum!
