xd45 robar NP3 worth it?

This is my story. Currently deployed, upon re-deployment wanting to work Police Reserves as soon as I pass my state testing.

I currently have a XD45 Service Model, full Robar NP3 finish done (really really smooth shooter, slide and mag release, etc) with truglo night sights installed, less than 200 rounds, perfect condition, 3 mags, the frame was also stippled professionally, box etc.

What I need is the new XD45 with thumb safety so I can carry it for duty.

I wanting to sell my Robar NP3 XD45, whats it worth?

What is the going price for a XD45 with thumb safety?

Trying to weigh all my options, thanks in advance.

How much did you pay for Robar to do his services? Also, what was done, just the coating or any upgraded components/work? That would better help to put a price on it.

The Robar services were NP3 inside and out over all metal surfaces and installing the tru glo night sights, total cost for NP3 I believe was around $200.00, plus an additonal cost for the tru glo night sights ($110.00) .

From my experience in a gun store I can tell you first hand that you will probably be better of keeping it. The NP3 won't mean much on a trade in because most stores want to just look it up in the blue book and go from there. Plus they will want to figure in their mark-up. If it were me and I had to sell it I would go for a place that will let you sell it on consignment, you may do better that way. Usually guns like that you are just better off keeping. Personally, unless department policy required the thumb safety I would use the one you have, it sounds like you already have it where you want it.

True, I would be better off to keep it , but I will not be able to keep it and get another XD45 (thumb safety), if I want to get it approved for duty to carry.
What do you think is worth for private sale?

How about post a pic of the Robar gun. I'd like to see the NP coating. Thanks.

I guess I am still wondering whether you are required to have a safety on your duty gun or you just want one? For private sale I would be happy if you got 450 out of it used. The problem is the night sights are "worth" more to people on a used gun, as to trying to pass of what you spent for the NP3 it's going to be a tough sell. The stippling WILL be a big turn off to most of your prospective buyers. Not that it isn't good but from my experience people just aren't that interested in other peoples custom add-ons.

I don't know if I well ever sell any of my guns... Ever. Am I alone out there in this? Obviously you don't feel this way, but I've talked to many people who have regretted selling their guns. I'd just save up and buy another one with the Thumb Safety. I just like guns.

Requirement is for an external safety.

Sorry no pics with me currently deployed.

The best bet maybe just to keep it to be honest, I would rather not have two of the same, but was just curious to see what it would be worth to sell it privately.

Do you have the same external safety requirement for off duty guns? If not, get a tactical XD with thumb safety for duty and keep what you have for off duty.
