XD-45 Sub compact?

Has anyone heard if SA is going to come out with a Sub Compact in 45 ACP?

As of 3 months ago, I was advised they had no plans to produce one in the "near future".

Which is kinda dumb (unless they can't make'em run right) because they'd sell a LOT of them.

It's a problem with the guide rod recoil spring IIRC. I know other maunufactures have overcome this but SA may not want to deal with it. Perhaps they need to get some new engineering blood on the payroll.

I know that if they did overecome this I would be first in line to buy one.

How much would a sub compact differ from a compact in 45 ACP?

Maybe a 3" barrel and a 1/2" shorter grip (7rnd mag) is what most people think about in a subcompact model. This would be about the size of my PT-745, which I carry in the summer.

SA is re-selling the Croatian-manufactured pistol, and I'd assume new product development $ went into the XD(M) product line.

I am not sure it would make sense given the very nice characteristics of the 45 Compact.

I would rather see a compact size weapon in .40. I would have bought that instead of the 45 compact for sure

Taurus makes a sub-compact PT-145. Great pistol. SA/DA... I had one. Loved it but had a long trigger pull and reset. Had a kick too.... so traded it for a S&W 642 38 special.
