Anyone have a Springer Comp Trriger job AND a carry job?
I have an XD45 - I was planning to send it bakc to Springfield for the competition trigger job. That's about $200.
However - I am debating on it - as 1 day I might want to carry the gun or use it as a night stand gun. And, with that light of a trigger - it may not be a good idea. Springfield offers a carry trigger job too. Is that worth it over the stock trigger? Can any different be felt between the stock trigger and the carry trigger job? How do the competition and carry triggers compare? |

I have had 2 done by Scott at Springer. I can't say enough good about his work. It made considerable improvement over the stock trigger. I had a carry job done on both with a 4lb. trigger.
Send it to Scott, he is fast and you'll get it back in a week or 2. Springfield will take about a month, but they do have excellent service also.

It was really close. It was 150 for Scotts, and betweeen $100-$215 for Springfields depending on what option you choose, and they have several. But you have to remember, Scott is replacing parts with better quality stuff. I am not sure what Springfield is doing since I did not get mine done there?

Just get another xd 45 and have Scott do a carry trigger job on one and a competition on the other.
I have comp trigger jobs on most of my handguns, but they are never carried. The pistols I carry may only have a carry trigger job that really just smooths out the action but does not reduce much trigger weight/pull. |

Depends on what you do with it. I wouldn't recommend a comp job on a carry weapon. a 2lb. trigger on a carry gun is too light and has too much potential for an AD or misfire in my opinion.

I have shot my XD45 2x since buying it - and I find the trigger too heavy. I was going to get the compeition trigger job, but now I have a new 1911. I don't see the point in trying to make the XD have a super light trigger now. My XD45 is just a range toy for now - but maybe I'll do something else with it. So, now with the 1911, I am rethinking my original plan. However, I don't want tp spend $100+ on the carry trigger ob and then find that it reallyw asn't worth the money (not enough of a difference) |

I just has Scott do a Carry trigger job on my XD45 ($200 including a ramp polish & shipping) and can tell you that it now has a much better pull than stock - I would call it outstanding! It is plenty light and crisp enough that you could do very well in competition with the Carry weight trigger. Yes it is lighter than stock. You would think you had a comp trigger installed if you didn't know better.
I feel that you would be best served for your purposes with the Carry trigger as opposed to the comp trigger. Once again - totally outstanding trigger pull! Thanks Scott!

I'm going to split the difference and have Scott do a competition trigger on my carry gun but set the trigger pull at 4 pounds. That way I eliminate the travel, creep, and reset, but keep the trigger pull respectable and thereby diminish the chances of an accidental discharge, etc.
I looked at having Springfield do it, but am more impressed with Scott and his work. By having Scott do the work, you do NOT void the Springfield warranty on the gun. Springfield will not warranty Scott's work, but they will warranty everything else that is original on the gun. Chapie+ |
