XD Newbie/Striker malfunction
Hello out there,
I just bought my second compact XD 45 and yet to fire one - (traded the 1st one towards an AR and 2nd one is ready for the range). BUT, after picking up the 2nd, I was informed to be careful keeping a round in the chamber because this person heard the the XD had some striker problems. More precisely, he told me that a person was carrying the XD holstered with one in the chamber and the gun spontaniously fired, hit him in the leg and a life flight ride to the ER. I don't want to ruffle any feathers here, I just want to know if anyone else has heard of this incident or of this malfunction with the striker. I'm hoping its just a bad rumor, because I really do like this firearm. Thanks for this site, J. |

Sorry, but I call BS and that little story you were told.
Dumbass probably pulled the trigger and was too full of himself to admit it.

Agreed. The gun is designed to NOT fire unless the user intends to fire it. With the internal safety, trigger safety, and grip safety... Sounds like pure BS.
A "malfunction" with a critical component like the striker is a big deal and I can't really see that happening.

Thanks for the quick replies. I looked around and found nothing of this, so I figured this site would be the ultimate in XD info.
Very pleased to hear of no such incident and can't wait to go to the range. I'll post a pic as soon as I can figure it out. Thanks again, J. |

I call BS, because that would requier the failur of 2 major components in the XD, and after taking my XD compleetely appart I can say they are robust! and nether is likely to break, let alone both fail at the same time! The XD is an extreemely well thought out gun and from what I can tell any unexpected discharge would be the result of the opperator.
if some one did shoot themselves they must have been deperessing the grip safety while holstering, and hooked the trigger on something.

B .S. too many safeties and parts would have to fail in order for it to happen. Striker safety, trigger safety, grip safety and or striker breaking and sear malfunction.

Agreed, no way this would ever happen.

+1 on the BS when i did my trigger job the sear would not stay cocked back, or your classic slamfire, except the gun wouldnt fire due to drop safety.
