New to the forum

Im new here and just ordered a xd 45 tactical. I've been reading the archives and learned not to use Wolf ammo or wadcutters which I was planning on using. Here's a question I have for you, should I clean and oil my new pistol before I shoot it?

Welcome from Phoenix.

I shot mine out of the box but it certainly could not hurt to clean and oil it first.

Welcome from south Florida. I've never cleaned a gun prior to shooting it except my S&W 410S, because the manual said it should be done. Never had a problem with just shooting XD's right out of the box.

I shot my XD right out of the box. Actually, we went straight from the gun show (where 2 of us bought XD's and one a Sig) to our buddy's land and shot them all right then and there.

Oh, and you can use Wolf ammo if you want--it's just really dirty stuff. It's not gonna hurt your XD, though. I can get factory loaded brass cased stuff as cheap when I buy in bulk, so I don't bother.

Welcome! I personally always clean mine up before going to the range. I like to know what's going on with them before putting rounds through it.

Thumbs up

Hello from West Virginia. I too have a 45 tactical and I absolutely love it, and I am sure that you will feel the same way also.
I always clean mine before I shoot, but that is just a personal preference. I say go for it if you want to though.

Just make sure the barrel is clear, then go for it.
