Another new XD 45 Owner

I recently decided to purchase a new full size .45 ACP. I went to the NRA Convention this year in Louisville and looked over about everything there, but decided to stick with Glock. Since I owned seven other Glock handguns, and have been happy with each and every one, I felt that I could not go wrong.
I had looked at the XDs at the Springfield booth, but there was such a crowd that I could not get close enough to pick one up. Upon returning home, I went to my local gun dealer where they had just received a new shipment of XD handguns, so I asked to see one before going through the paperwork for my new Glock. As soon as the XD 5" .45 was in my hand, I knew that this was going to be the handgun for me. It had the new thumb safety and the feel was if I had a lightweight 1911 in hand. I told them to cancel finding the box for the Glock and get out the XD box instead! As soon as I got home I cleaned the barrel, put some oil on the correct places, and went out back to shoot. (I live WAY out in the country and have a 300 yd range right out my back door). At 25 yards, my first shots were 1' center left of the bulls eye on the target. I used a little "Kentucky Windage", and started putting every shot within 3 to 4" rapid fire. When I slowed down, I was shooting good 1.5 to 2 " groups! All ammos was 230gr FMJ handloads, and 230gr JHP handloads.
I am converted! I am seriously thinking of selling off some of my Glocks and going with XDs in my 9mm 40 S&W and .45 handguns. I wish they would make a 10mm version, and that Glock would have to go also. The trigger on the XD is better out of the box than the Glock with the 3.5lb competion trigger on my 17 and 21 Glocks. Almost, (but not quite), as good as my Kimber that has been custom built.
I want to thank everyone here who posts, as you guys got me thinking on this XD conversion a few months ago.
(Just kidding about selling anything since I have every gun I have ever bought since 1966! Also my first .22 I got when I was five. But I am still thinking about buying those new XDs)!

It gets better after about 500 rounds, you might as well start packing up those Glocks.

Notice that the grip angle is identicle to your Kimber 1911? Being raised on 1911's I just could never get used to a Glock as they just dont point right for me. Also, the thumb safety is right where it should be on the XD. It just feels right in my hand.

Welcome to the forum from south Florida. I know from personal experience that Glocks make great paperweights on your desk!

Thanks for the welcome! And yes, if any of you are going to be in East Tennessee let me know, and you would be welcome to come here and shoot. I also have almost fifty acers of woods here with deer, turkey and black bear that can be hunted. I have turkeys that come out back every day and eat the seed that falls from my wifes bird feeders. I have counted as many as fourty two turkeys out back at times. I'll try to post some pictures here in the next few days of the Toms trying to court the hens within twenty feet of my back door.
I have to agree, I'll be owning more XPs in the future.

I have yet to meet someone who has handled and then shot an XD who did not end up purchasing one of their own. Great review by the way.
