For those who own multiple XDs

Since XDtalk.com is a great source of XD info, I thought I'd ask here though it may sound a little unusual. I'm looking to find a comparison between the .45 and 9mm magazine dimensions. The reason I'm asking is because I want a particular double-magazine holster but it is only made for the XD in 9mm and .40 S&W and I'm wondering if my .45 ACP magazines will fit? If they are too large a difference, are there any other comparable mags in which it might work? Thanks for any replies.

The difference between the .45c and the 9sc mags is considerable. The 9 mags are much skinnier.

The 45ACP is a longer cartridge than the 9mm/40S&W unless the magazine holder is adjustable the 45 mags will not fit in the 9/40 carrier.

I was looking for one as well, and had no luck. I did just find this on Pistolgear's site this morning. I don't know if it's new, but I don't remember seeing it up there.

I use the Blackhawk CQC carbon fiber mag holders. They will hold both my XD9 mags and my XD45 mags. The 45 mags are nice and tight (but not too tight) but the 9's are a little sloppy (but they are still held in very well)

I thought about getting a few of those since they work on the various platforms as well. Very handy if you decide to, say, put a Serpa holster on a shoulder platform and then be able to secure 2 magazine holders on the other side.

The CR Speed magazine pouch is adjustable and generally used only for competition because they do not conceal very well. They are great mags they are great pouches, if you like them you will probably like the Safariland 771 and 773. Both are adjustable and have adjustable cant as well. Why I carry the .45 Compact.

I read somewhere: "A 9mm might expand,, but a .45 will NEVER shrink."

Thanks for all the great input on the topic. Since the XD9 and XD45 will both fit into Pops' injection molded holster, I think it's safe to assume they'd both fit into the leather mag holster that I've got my eye on. Thanks again guys.
