while reading other threads, i noticed numerous people have several different carry pistols. am i the exception because i carry only one pistol, my xd 45c? i believe one should practice with their ccw and be proficient with that gun. that way drawing, shooting, reloading is natural without thought.

I carry either a G17 or a XD9 depending on my mood. No real reason behind it, it's just what I want to do. Sometimes I carry a BUG which is a Colt Govt. Model .380.

I really don't worry about switching between the two. The controls are basically the same and I am very proficient in the use of either one.

The reason I have multiple carry guns is to make it easier to carry 100% of the time. I practice and am comfortable with all (3). I love to carry my .45, but I like having my 9 or even my .32 to make sure I don't have a few times I do not carry at all due to whatever circumstances.

I have an XD-40 Service and an XD-40 Subcompact. Both have TruGlo TFO sights and I use pierce grip extensions with the compact. They handle and shoot almost identically, so they are very interchangeable. I tend to carry the Subcompact more and shoot the Service more in competition, but I can easily switch up when needed.

The only other gun I carry is a Kahr P9 Covert. It is primarily a pocket gun and gets used when carrying one of the XDs is less than ideal. Church is a good example if I am not wearing a jacket. It is also nice to have something I can toss in the pocket of my cargo shorts on the way out the door for a quick errand. I practice with it regularly.

Because I have a plethora of clothing, and different situations to be prepared for. I also like that I can carry a backup gun in my pocket, and carry a small plethora of ammo for it, too.

Pass the plethora, please!

Because they keep making newer, smaller and much more cool guns.

Seriously, some work better in shorts , some for jeans and casual wear, some for dress. I like having the options but only carry one at a time. The carry guns also do duty as a nightstand weapon (XD9 SC comes to mind).

Mainly because I can....bottom line.

I like this answer and I concur.
I have three different carry guns.
What I'm wearing, where I'm going, how long I'm gonna be gone, all factors I consider.
I carry considering what I'm wearing.
I don't dress around what I carry.

Living in south Florida, I have to agree with this. Depending on the weather; where I'm going and what I'm wearing will determine what gun I carry. I am comfortable (and practice weekly) with each of my 3 carry guns).
