Because different weapons operate differently and because when one is a shooting one will revert to the very least level of safety. So practice, practice, practice.
On duty it's a XD Service, Rem 11-87LE, and DPMS AR MK12. Off duty it's either the XD or the S&W 642. I really like the ease with which the 642 carries, but I fear taking on multiple assailants (2 or more in a robbery scenario) with my 642. Often I will carry the XD IWB and the 642 in my pocket. I also have a DPMS AR in .308, but I don't often carry it.... Chapie+ |

Carry many options
Because I am in a wheelchair, I have several carry guns and use them all. Sometimes, one in a fag pack.. sometimes a backup on a ankle holster, sometimes a holster under the arm.. ot just dep[ends on what I am wearing or wat to wear. If you go abut it this way... then you always are carrying... and always have options. Any other way, you are forced to carrying a less than perfect situation. This way, it is alway near perfect ... or... a totally perfect concealment. thanks, Buzz

Me too...I don't want to look like I just bought out bed bath and beyond's supply of drapes just so my gun doesn't print.

I was carrying the XD9SC, but gave it to my SIL. It hurt, but he's a good kid. Once my holster gets in, I plan on carrying the XD45C. Till then I'm subbing the PPK/S.

I think everyone should eat meatloaf. I don't know why you'd want to eat anything else. I mean, I like meatloaf...

It's a valid question. I know that I psycologically subscribe to the one gun theory. One gun for fun, range, training, carry and home defense. I'm not sure it's totally practical, however. I've carried a full size gun on a hot day in summer, but I felt like going down to just a t-shirt and couldn't because I was carrying. I often wear a tank top or undershirt with a button up overshirt. Sometimes the two layers are a little much.
The XD 45c has such a nice compact grip that I can see it being carried every day, but then again it has a compact grip and that's not for everyone. I think I'm likely to carry a full size service pistol whenever possible, and then get a Kahr CW9 or P9 for the really hot days. |
