Why "Drop?" Lock and check, fine. The only time you need to drop is if you have another magazine in your hand ready to ram home and continue firing.

some people do things differently. i am a firm believer in gun safety, but some go a little crazy with it. everyone has their quirks i guess.

Regarding Drop, Lock, and Check
Right now we're running a cold range with newbies and rotating several guns between people.
After dealing with a couple classic newbie safety violations in the open bays we work in I decided to implement some structure. 1. Post the whole "All guns are always loaded; muzzle awareness; finger off the trigger; etc, etc" litany. 2. Designate a fixed firing line. 3. Mandate Position Sul whenever a weapon wasn't slung or holstered, but on your person. 4. Came up with "Drop, Lock and Check" that day. Seems to be an easy way to get people to do the same clearing procedure on mag-loaded questions every time. Again we're running a cold range and people are swapping different weapons to try out. Below is a video explaining that further. YouTube - Drop, Lock, and Check Hopefully, I can get my friends good enough to feel comfortable running a hot range, but it ain't right now. Frank |

Seems like a good explanation to me. Can get expensive, but not as expensive as getting shot.

Regarding Drop, Lock, and Check
Sound like a great policy to me.. Especially in teaching newbies. I liked your Helium Container Safari video and the Frank Gets Maced. You obviously have a good sense of humor.. FrankDude72 likes to shoot guns.......... Welcome to the forum Frank..............from Dallas TEXAS
