Crossbreed Supertuck fans/experts--I have a question
I'm about to order a Crossbreed Supertuck thanks to all the raving that everyone does on the forum about them. My question is, I have an XD45C--should I get the combat cut? Is the comfort sacrifice really noticeable? Is it not worth the trouble?
Also, horsehide is currently available and they say it's more moisture resistant. I'm in Georgia, so would it be a good idea to go with that (it's $15 more)? |

most people get the regular one, then once they get it and try it on cut it themselves for a more custom fit. You can always shave off as much as you wish if you get the regular one

I did my own combat cut after using my Crossbreed Supertuck at IDPA matches. If you're just standing still in front of your mirror, drawing is easy. When you're in all sorts of different stances, the draw isn't always consistent. Many times, I would end up jamming my thumb into the leather backing. I noticed no reduction in comfort after I cut mine.

I agree with the above. Either way, you'll probably want it to be similar to the combat cut. This option wasn't available when I bought mine so I did both myself. In my opinion, there was no loss in comfort and a HUGE increase in drawability.

I do not have the combat cut and have not cut it at all. Its easier to get the holster with all the leather then remove than it is to add leather to it.

I don't have the combat-cut either. I've found it's just as easy to draw with my thumb reaching up the rear sight, over the firing pin indicator, then transitioning down to the side as I draw up.
My grip is just as firm, and it does not take any extra time (but does take just a wee lil bit of practice).

Get the model you would be most comfortable with. I have the regular size and it works just fine for me. I think the key is practice above all else. I think no matter what you choose, you'll be happy with the purchase.

I did the Supertuck with the Combat grip and horsehide. I saw people saying they cut their own, but since I was spending this much on a holster I didn't want to do anything that could void the warranty.

Thanks, everyone for the advice! I just ordered the Super-tuck in horsehide with the combat cut and the extra J-hooks. Came to just over 100 bones with shipping. This better be one frickin' AWESOME holster.

Horsehide is a better, longer-lasting leather than the stuff that comes from Moo cows. You chose well...
